Proper Care & Maintenance
To help you enjoy your garments for years to come, we've compiled the tips below. Follow these guidelines to maintain the quality, fit, and appearance of your bespoke pieces, ensuring they remain as impeccable as the day they were made.
Suit, Sport Coat & Blazer
Unless you spill something on your clothes that causes a stain or perspire heavily, you should only take these garments to the cleaners once a quarter. Avoid storing large and heavy items in your pockets for prolonged periods of time. When driving, hang your jacket on a hanger.
Dress Shirt & Blouse
When at the cleaners, request no starch as it can weaken the fabric over time. Only dry-clean when necessary. Avoid overcrowding shirts in your closet to prevent wrinkles. Leave collar stays in as often as possible to maintain the shape of your collar. (Just be sure to take them out before taking the shirt to the cleaner.)
Slacks & Dress Pants
Similar to your coat or blazer, you should be able to get multiple wears out of your slacks before needing to send them to the cleaner. Only dry clean when needed. Avoid storing bulky items in the pockets. (including your hands) When hanging, line up pant bottoms along the crease to avoid unnecessary wrinkles.
Hangers
Typically, a clean wire hanger from the cleaners works just fine for a dress shirt or blouse. For suits, sport coats, slacks or blazers, you want to make sure you have a thicker hanger to support the structure of the garment.
Garment Bags
Whether it is a suit or sport coat, each article of clothing goes out the door in a Langel & Woods garment bag. This is important as it provides protection during travel and helps protect the garment from light, dust or potential snags in the closet while not being worn.
